This is the main DigiJ window, and is your interface into your music
database! The search window controls and calls all other windows within the
program. The other sections of the program are called through the menu at the top of this window.
Any song or group of songs in your library is easily found and edited right in the search results grid.
DigiJ is fully integrated with Nullsoft's Winamp. Any track in the song list grid can be
played or queue'd instantly! |
DigiJ provides two tools to help you beat mix and key match in real time. The Harmonic Music Key assistant automates
the Camelot music wheel, providing you with an instant reference as to what music keys are compatible with other
tracks. Click on any key in the chart for a quick compatibility reference, or hover your mouse over any key’d
track in the search results grid. You can instantly narrow search results by compatible keys. The BPM Tempo
Calculation tool helps you determine how much speed correction tracks will need in order to match tempos. Tap
the track that’s currently playing, switch channels and tap the cue’d track for an instant tempo difference calculation. |
To use DigiJ, you first need to import entries into your database.
There are several ways to do this, from dragging and dropping your music library
folder into the song list grid, using the Music File importing utility,
importing database entries from Microsoft Excel, Tab or Comma Separated Value text files (TSV/CSV), or cataloging your
CD library through freeDB. You can also link music files with existing database entries, if you've originally
created them with a music service (Promo Only / RPM's Top Hits USA) import but also have the corresponding music file.
Whether you are linking current database
entries with Music Files or building your database for the first time with Music
Files, DigiJ’s import utility can help. This window may be a little overwhelming
at first because of all the options and choices. The form is complicated, but the
numerous controls are available to you to help generate the most accurate media library
possible. DigiJ will read information form ID3 version 2.x first, version
1.x second, and will directly parse the MP3 file’s name if information still can
not be collected. DigiJ then compares the obtained information against what already
exists in its database, to avoid duplicate entries. Importing new database entries
from Excel or Separated Value text files allows you to quickly and easily build
your DigiJ database! If you only have your tracks listed in Excel or in any other
database that allows you to export to Excel, the power of DigiJ is only a few clicks
away. The freeDB data importing utility makes entering information about your compact disc
library quick and easy! Simply connect to the Internet, pop your CD into the CD
ROM or DVD drive, and hit the ‘Download disc information from the Internet’ button. |

Tag your database entries with multiple Genres & Attributes to make
searching for the perfect track lightening quick and accurate! You can completely customize your personal Attributes and Genres lists, however you
would like to categorize your music! All Attributes and
Genres that are currently available in your database are displayed in the corresponding
grids. Add new entries and link your tracks to multiple Attributes and Genres to enhance your search flexibility. |

Extensive playlists can be generated by selecting tracks through
the main DigiJ window, and inserting them into the Playlist Generator. DigiJ’s Media Playlist Generator will help you build a playlist to provide music
for every mood you could ever possibly have! It is especially powerful if you have
categorized your music database entries based on song genre. Even if you don't use
DigiJ to help you organize your media database, you can still use the playlist generator. |
The DigiJ Gig Designer is a fast and easy way to structure and generate entire parties!
Instantly mix new playlists for recurring gigs based on a common ideal format! DJs generally tend to play certain types of songs at specific points in a party. Once you have entries in your DigiJ database tagged with certain Attributes and
assigned to one or more Genres, DigiJ can help you automate generating a playlist
that is tailored to the way that you spin. The Gig Designer is broken down into
four easy steps. Set the length for the party you want to automate, break your gig
into sections, input what type of music you want per section, and generate your gig. It's that easy to put together a perfect playlist for your next party! The Gig
Designer is especially handy if you play at recurring gigs that always follow the
same format, but you don't want to play the same songs in the same order each time. Once you program the gig's format, you can generate as many playlists using that
structure as you'd like! |
Interested in what songs get played the most from your Music Library? DigiJ can graphically represent the statistics for you! When you play a track in Winamp while DigiJ is running, and if that music file is a member of the active database, DigiJ will increment and store the total number of times that file has been played. This number does not get reset back to zero when you close DigiJ, so the graph is a representation of the overall number of times a music file is played since it was added to your library.
Keep track of what songs you are playing most often, and
generate playlists instantly using real-time play count statistics! |
Keep track of Clients & Gigs with a built-in database!
Instantly generate gig contracts with DigiJ's built in contract template, or use
your own contract and insert it into DigiJ! The Modify Gig or Client Information window is used to modify information for gigs
or clients The Contract generation utility can help you quickly and easily generate a contract
for any gig that you have entered into your database! Simply select the gig’s date
and select which gig on that date you would like to generate a contract for. If
you already have a contract template that you use, simply copy the file into DigiJ's folder and tag it so that the correct information is inserted in the correct areas. |
Do you have multiple equipment sets with different music for
each? Compare two DigiJ databases and use DigiJ's SQL editor for advanced
database maintenance capabilities! Databases can become very big, very quickly. The database comparison utility can
help you quickly see differences between two DigiJ databases, presented in a graphically
oriented display. If you've been routinely backing up your main music database,
this comparison tool can highlight differences between your active database and a
backup copy, in case you screw something up! |
The Advanced Database Maintenance window is intended to be used by individuals who
know how to write in Structure Query Language (SQL) to perform various database manipulations
and updates. For those of you who feel comfortable writing in SQL, a database schema
diagram has been included to help you generate your commands. We recommend backing
up your database (using the database backup utility on the main screen) before hitting
the database with any ‘update’ or ‘delete from’ commands. |
A full Flash Help suite is included to help you get the most out
of DigiJ! Each window within the program has its own help page associated
with it. Call up help from any point in the program for a full set
of instructions explaining every control within the window! |
